Ahmed Adesina is a known for his problem solving skills and committed justice reform advocate with extensive experience in correctional education, rehabilitation, and community reintegration initiatives. With over five years of dedicated service at the Centre for Legal Support and Inmates’ Rights (CELSIR), he has consistently worked at the intersection of education, human rights, and justice reform.
He serves as the In-Prison Project Coordinator at CELSIR, where he designs, coordinates, and oversees transformative programs aimed at expanding learning opportunities, personal development, and successful reintegration for incarcerated individuals.
In his role at CELSIR, Ahmed leads the Mobile Library Initiative, ensuring sustained access to educational resources that promote literacy, critical thinking, and self-improvement within correctional centres. He also coordinates education programs for both adult learners and juveniles, supporting structured learning pathways that enhance life skills, educational advancement, and rehabilitation outcomes. His responsibilities extend to program monitoring, stakeholder engagement, mentorship, and strengthening the delivery of other in-prison initiatives aligned with CELSIR’s mission.
Beyond his work at CELSIR, he actively contributes to justice reform efforts at both national and international levels. He is the Nigeria Chapter Coordinator of the Global Freedom Scholars (GFS) and a Member of Penal Reform International’s Global Group of Experts by Experience, where he collaborates with practitioners and policymakers to advance evidence-based, human-rights-centered approaches to criminal justice reform. He also serves as a Sector Expert Council Member at Justice DAO, contributing to global conversations exploring innovative and decentralized solutions for justice transformation.
