On Saturday, November 23rd, 2024, CELSIR provided much-needed nutritional support to three correctional centres in Lagos: Ikoyi, Medium, and the Female Correctional Centers. The team arrived early on Saturday morning to distribute bread and hot beverages to the inmates as they prepared to sit for their mathematics exams.
“Seeing the determination and resilience in the eyes of these students, some with tears and others with focused expressions, was truly inspiring,” said Joke Aladesanmi, Executive Director at CELSIR. “We wanted to offer a small gesture of care and support, a reminder that they are not alone.”
In addition to providing sustenance, CELSIR Executive Director Joke Aladesanmi delivered an uplifting message of encouragement, igniting hope and motivation among the students.
CELSIR remains committed to providing pro-bono legal services, educational opportunities, and reentry support to individuals who are justice-impacted. Through initiatives like these, CELSIR aims to empower incarcerated individuals and help them rebuild their lives upon release
