On Saturday, at the Medium Security Custodial Facility, Ikoyi, incarcerated persons were formally matriculated into the National Open University of Nigeria, marking a significant milestone in advancing access to education within correctional spaces.
This milestone reflects the power of sustained investment in rehabilitation through education.
In 2020, CELSI R supported the facility by donating computer, a projector, and books to strengthen the existing library and enhance learning opportunities. Although the library was destroyed during the EndSARS crisis within a week, the commitment to rebuilding remained unwavering.
In 2022, we returned to re-equip the library with laptops, projectors, and additional learning materials, further enabling access to academic resources and supporting inmates in their Tutor-Marked Assessments (TMA) and studies.
This ceremony is more than an academic event it represents resilience, continuity, and the transformative role of education in rehabilitation and reintegration.
We are CELSIR!
We remain committed to initiatives that promote dignity, learning, and second chances for justice-impacted individuals.
