Education for
Correctional Facilities
In the pursuit of rehabilitation, education emerges as a transformative force for incarcerated individuals. Beyond granting second chances, it nurtures self-respect, counters social disconnection, and fuels aspirations for renewed lives.
We cannot afford to let people who have made mistakes in their lives be discarded by society, and education is the key to giving them the tools they need to succeed.

In Nigeria, quality education behind bars remains a challenge. Overcrowded cells, lack of educational materials, lack of Technology facilities, lack of funding, a shortage of trained educators, and restrictive policies limit opportunities for formal learning.

Education should be a right, not a privilege
CELSIR Offers Several Key Initiatives to help Justice-Impacted Individuals access high quality education
Many incarcerated individuals sit for critical examinations without adequate preparation or tutoring, leaving them at a disadvantage. In addition to these challenges, societal stigma and limited digital access further isolate justice-impacted individuals from the tools they need to rebuild their lives. We offer several key initiatives to help tackle these problems:
Adult Education Program
Together with our partners, we provide access to education and career preparation workshops for justice-imapcted adults
Juvenile Education Program
Through JEP, our goal is to ensure justice-impacted children have access to consistent and reliable education
Prison Library Project
Through our Book Club and Mobile Library, we help justice-impacted individuals access to recreational and educational books
Donate to CELSIR
Join CELSIR in helping justice-impacted individuals rejoin society successfully
We are calling on individuals and organizations of good will to support us as we work towards proper rehabilitation of incarcerated individuals to ensure a positive and productive transition into society.
