My name is Raphael. I am a beneficiary of the CELSIR Foundation Modern Library. My regular presence at the library to read gas helped to broaden my horizon and this made me come to an understanding that knowledge can be accessible anywhere, provided there is a provision for the rightful resources and the will to seek it.
Secondly, the library has been an effective tool to rescue me from the psychological traumas like depression, over-thinking and some negative thoughts. Whenever I lay hold of a book, especially an inspirational book, I am able to gain control over myriads of negative thoughts that emanates out of the agonies of Ikoyi Correctional Centre.
.My name is James. I am a beneficiary of the CELSIR Foundation Modern Library. Since I have started studying in the school library my knowledge has been growing wide and I have been able to perform very well in my exams and I have been educated about cases and able to educate my fellow inmates about their cases and now I am informed about certain things I was ignorant of.
The library has really helped me build my social life through the help of reading novels and I hope it is going to help me more when I gain admission into the open university. And now, I am more confident of being a better person when I leave this correctional centre. Thank you.
My name is Mfon. I became an inmate at Ikoyi Correctional facility Centre in 2019. There was a library structure but the kind of material available then was not enough to help me achieve of writing a book. An incident occurred and the library was burnt down which brought the existence of a new and standard library erected by the Centre for Legal Support and Inmate Rehabilitation. (CELSIR) The new library has all I need to achieve my dream of writing a book.
I am at the last stage of the book, the speed is as a result of good and productive material available in the library which has been useful in my writing. Thanks to CELSIR.
My name is John. This is my feedback on how the library has been of help to my mental state within the walls of the prison yard.
I have read varieties of books which have helped keep my mind active cause I got information that I did not know about before and I learn new things that have become of interest to me. It also helps to keep the depression away. It has helped my vocabulary because I learn new words, phrases and sentence composition. So the library has been very helpful to me.
My name is Sheu, I am writing this short note to inform the general public about what the library project implemented by CELSIR in the correctional centre. The primary objective or main objective of the library is to read but the advantage gained from the library is more than reading because the library has helped me a lot in one way or the other. Firstly, when I found a subject or topic very challenging I usually go to the library and find the textbook that will guide me to the full details.
Secondly, the virtual class has also helped me a lot with the just concluded WAEC Examinations in general. I don’t have any other things to say than thanks to CELSIR.
I am Daniel by name. I have been a regular reader at the prison library project implemented by CELSIR for the past three months. Benign a lover of fiction, I have gone through most of the international bestsellers novels ranging from Dan Brown’s to David Baldacci's, Sidney Sheldon's, etc.
My reading spree landed me into a world of knowledge of diverse fields of study: medicine, law, politics, etc. After my first weeks of reading, I took it upon myself to read at least two books every week from the available collections. And as I have known, seeking results to finding. I have not regretted but appreciated the presence of the library in this confinement.
My name is Abdulhafeez, an inmate in the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Ikoyi. I have been here since 2018. I am one of the students in the school in the custody that is MOHARAM SISTERS EDUCATIONAL CENTER. A little after the 2020 Priosn riot, the school was burnt . there was no place to learn and there was no material to read. Then, the Centre for Legal Support and Inmate Rehabilitation. (CELSIR) came in with support bt bringing in online equipment and bringing in chairs, desks, for then students and this helped me greatly because it gave me the opportunity to prepare for exams which have written and excelled. Thanks to CELSIR for the support and not writing us off.
